Find clear answers to key questions about our push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) platform, our device ecosystem,
and our extensive range of solutions and features.

Push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) is an instant one-to-one and group communication technology that enables instant communication at the touch of a button. Unlike traditional radios, PoC uses 3G, 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi networks instead of radio frequencies. This allows users to connect in real time without geographical range restrictions – making it a reliable, secure and cost-effective communication solution.

In addition to wide-area coverage, PoC provides high audio quality - making it a powerful alternative to traditional radio systems for mission-critical communications.

TornadoCore is the foundation of Mobile Tornado’s push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) platform.

It provides instant, secure one-to-one and group voice communication, push-to-message and multi-media sharing.

Very. TornadoCore delivers carrier-grade system availability (99.999%) and ultra-low latency voice setup, meaning users can make instant push-to-talk calls with almost no delay.

This reliability makes it suitable for mission-critical communications.

Yes. TornadoCore’s PoC system supports seamless switching between Wi-Fi and cellular technology, and between 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G mobile networks, giving your workforce reliable coverage across a wide range of environments.

TornadoCore is compatible with a broad range of devices, including Android and iOS smartphones and a range of other devices, including rugged and field-ready devices. You can see all compatible devices on our device ecosystem page.

Push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) offers significant advantages over traditional two-way radios. It overcomes the range limitations and infrastructure requirements of traditional radio two-way systems by using mobile networks and Wi-Fi. It also provides clearer voice quality, better indoor signal penetration, and instant one-to-one and group communication.

PoC technology also offers real-time GPS location tracking, lone worker safety features and advanced security features

Yes. Many organisations are increasingly using push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) as an alternative to traditional two-way radios because PoC solutions offer wider coverage, clearer voice quality and real-time GPS tracking. It is also a cost-effective alternative to traditional two-way radios as it does not need expensive radio towers or dedicated radio infrastructure.

Businesses are increasingly adopting PoC to streamline workforce communication and improve operational efficiency.

Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) is ideal for industries that require instant, reliable, and secure team communication. PoC is widely used in logistics and transportation, construction, public safety and security, utilities, hospitality and field service. PoC enables these industries to improve operational efficiency, communicate with and coordinate teams in real time, track workforce location via GPS, and reduce costs compared to traditional two-way radios.

Modern push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) systems are highly reliable and often outperform traditional two-way radio systems. Mobile Tornado’s push-to-talk over cellular carrier-grade system availability is 99.999% system availability and call establishment and voice delay is less than 300 milliseconds.

Yes. Push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) improves worker safety by enabling instant, reliable, secure communication between individuals and groups. Features like emergency SOS alerts, lone worker monitoring, keep alive features and real-time GPS location tracking help you keep track of your workforce and enable you to respond quickly to incidents.

No. PoC uses existing 2G, 3G, 4G LTE and 5G, Wi-Fi networks and satellite, so there’s no need for expensive infrastructure. This makes it faster and more affordable to deploy than traditional radio systems.

Mobile Tornado’s push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) platform allows for instant communication with both individuals and groups of up to 1000 participants anywhere in the world. Mobile Tornado has the lowest latency of any PoC solution on the market and switches seamlessly between Wi-Fi and cellular technology.

Very. Mobile Tornado’s PoC platform is designed with security at its core, going above and beyond standard SaaS security.
It follows the guidelines and frameworks of the national security bodies to protect networks and software codes and combines end-to-end data encryption and multiple layers of protection to safeguard your communications
All components are continuously monitored to detect and prevent potential threats, making our PoC platform one of the most secure on the market.

The coverage is worldwide. It is network agnostic and can be used on all cellular bands – private and public (2G, 3G, LTE and 5G), WiFi and satellite.

On average, 200 MB is needed per user per month.

Yes, you can do this by using our IPRS Connect solution which seamlessly connects LMR systems (including DMR, TETA and P25) with PoC without the need for PoC donor device and hardware.

You can also use hybrid mobile devices, which incorporate VHF/ UHF and PoC modules.

The Mobile Tornado Basic Plan offers core push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) functionality, allowing users to make instant voice calls to individuals or groups. It also supports push-to-message, enabling text, image, video, and file sharing over the same platform. TornadoVision is also included for live video communication.
Basic plan is ideal for organisations that need affordable, reliable real-time communications without advanced add-ons.

TornadoRecord is available as an add-on to Mobile Tornado’s Basic plan.

Security is built into all Mobile Tornado plans, including Basic. Mobile Tornado uses end-to-end encryption to protect voice, messages, and alerts. TornadoControl, our mobile device management (MDM) product ,can also be added on to the Basic Plan for additional levels of security.

Yes. You can upgrade to Standard or Premium at any time. Upgrading lets you add advanced features like workforce management, lone-worker protection and location tracking.

You can also add-on extra features to your Basic Plan, including TornadoCommander, our dispatch console, TornadoDebrief, our post-operation review platform, and TornadoRecord.

Our Standard Plan gives you the full push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) capabilities included in our Basic plan, plus advanced features – live location tracking, lone worker and mobile device management (MDM).

It’s ideal for organisations that need a robust communications solution with location tracking and safety features.

Yes. The Standard Plan supports live GPS tracking and geofencing. With TornadoLocate you can see where your team is in real time and set up alerts when they enter or leave defined zones.

The Standard Plan supports workforce coordination by combining real-time PoC communication, location tracking, lone worker and emergency alerting. This makes it easier to manage remote or mobile teams, improving safety, response times, and task efficiency.

Yes. You can upgrade to our Premium Plan whenever you want. This includes workforce management and guard patrol features.
There are also a range of features that can be added on to all of three of our plans - TornadoCommander, our dispatch console, TornadoDebrief, our post-operation review platform, and TornadoRecord.

The Premium Plan includes full push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) functionality plus advanced workforce management and guard patrol capabilities. It is perfect for mission-critical operations and sectors like security services, critical infrastructure, logistics, and emergency response teams.

3GPP Mission Critical (MCX) communication refers to a set of standards defined by the global body responsible for setting communication standards, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The standards enable highly reliable, secure, and low-latency communication services over LTE and 5G networks.
These include Mission Critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT), Mission Critical Video (MCVideo), and Mission Critical Data (MCData).

Industries such as public safety, emergency services, transportation, utilities, construction, oil and gas, and logistics rely on MCX for dependable communication, real-time situational awareness, and secure one-to-one and group coordination.

MCX uses end-to-end encryption, secure authentication, and network-level QoS policies to maintain a secure and reliable communication framework.

Yes. Mobile Tornado’s push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) carrier-grade system availability is 99.999%, voice transmission setup is less than 0.5 seconds and communications are secured with an advanced encryption mechanism. With our push-to-talk over cellular latency there is almost no difference between a private PTT (PoC) call or a radio group of 1000.

A mission-critical network and infrastructure is required to fulfil all mission-critical requirements.
