We sat down with Michael Davison, Mobile Tornado’s Pre-Sales & Operations Director, to discuss the launch of Mobile Tornado’s new web-based dispatcher and market-first Debrief Centre. Michael shared the inspiration behind these innovative products, and their benefits for reseller partners and their customers. He also gave us a sneak preview into upcoming product enhancements.
What inspired the development of Mobile Tornado’s two new products?
We’ve been in the push-to- talk over cellular market for more than 20 years and innovation as always been at the heart of what we do. We’re constantly asking ourselves how we can make our platform better and one of our greatest sources of inspiration comes from our reseller partners. From listening to their feedback, the team identified two key needs.
We knew that there was a requirement for a web-based dispatcher and it was also clear to us that our partners felt a post-operation review tool would be game-changing. From there, the vision became clear: create solutions that address real-world needs and make a tangible difference in daily operations.
The team has worked incredibly hard to bring these two new products to life and we couldn’t be prouder. Being the first in the market to launch a debrief centre is a milestone – it’s a groundbreaking feature and sets a new benchmark for safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Mobile Tornado already has a windows-based dispatcher. How is the new web-based dispatcher different?
Yes, we already offer a world-class windows- based dispatcher which serves as a powerful command and control centre for managing lone workers and remote workforces across multiple industries. It provides instant, reliable group and individual communications, emergency (SOS) alerts, assistance, location monitoring and more.
The new web-based dispatcher is accessible from any device with a browser and internet connection, with no installation required. And it’s not just more flexible — the new console has had a user-friendly facelift too!
You mention that the UI has changed on the new dispatcher. What inspired the new look and how has it improved?
At the heart of the redesign was our desire and commitment to make the dispatcher even better and easier for our customers to use so the redesigned UI focuses on simplicity, efficiency, and usability. As well as looking fresher and more modern, we’ve also simplified the layout and improved the navigation, making it more intuitive so that operators can work more efficiently and with less effort.
The response from our partners has been extremely positive, so we’re all very happy!
The debrief centre is the first product of its type on the market – so what exactly is it?
Put simply, our new debrief centre is the ultimate platform for post-operation intelligence review. It gives instant access to real time location tracking data, voice recordings and full communication playback for PTT users and radio groups.
It also offers real-time transcription of live communications in multiple languages, helping to break down language barriers, prevent misunderstandings and improve coordination across teams.
What are the benefits to the customer? Are there any specific challenges that it can help fix?
The debrief centre gives command and control teams the power to see exactly where employees have been and to replay and review every conversation. This lets them reconstruct events and rebuild incident timelines in seconds, enabling faster, improved decision making and operational response – meaning they can take control of situations and resolve them quickly and efficiently.
How do you think the new debrief centre will change the way people work?
By enhancing situational awareness, the debrief centre enables command and control teams to operate more efficiently and protect their employees more effectively.
It can quite literally transform business operations by improving decision-making, boosting productivity, and driving overall operational excellence.
How do the web-based dispatcher and debrief centre fit into Mobile Tornado’s vision?
These web-based dispatcher and debrief centre represent more steps towards Mobile Tornado’s goal of being the world’s leading push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) provider. We’re committed to continuously enhancing our technology and we have a robust roadmap for 2025/2026, focusing on continuous innovation and customer-driven solution.
We’ve already announced several exciting new partner signings and we have more to come – so watch this space!
Can you give us a sneak preview into what’s coming next?
Where do I start? We’re thrilled to have announced our partnership with Frequentis to deliver a full Mission Critical Services (MCX) solution for first responders, public safety agencies and sectors such as transportation, defence and critical infrastructure.
The MCX solution provides reliable voice, data and video communication services, fully compliant with 3GPP specifications for MCPTT, MCData and MCVideo. We’ve also been developing an IPRS Connect solution which will enhance and simplify integration between PoC users and traditional LMR networks like DMR, TETRA and P25. As the industry increasingly recognises the limitations of traditional radio technologies, the need for seamless integration between the two has never been greater – making this a top priority for us.
We’re also introducing geofence enhancements which will allow dynamic radio to be assigned to PoC users based on their location.
These advancements aim to further improve PoC communication, situational awareness, and operational efficiency.
