Telrad Networks, a global provider of innovative LTE telecom solutions, has partnered with leading push-to-talk (PTT) solutions provider Mobile Tornado to offer an integrated, end-to-end solution for PTT communication over broadband.
This joint solution is primed to replace traditional PTT communication, which is based on legacy technology that depends on dedicated radios with limited coverage. It will allow customers to use a single mobile device for cellular as well as PTT communication in both one-to-one and group scenarios.
Furthermore, end users will no longer be hamstrung by short-range radio. The new PTT solution instead leverages the Internet to provide robust communication anywhere the end user has LTE coverage. This could prove transformative for organizations whose day-to-day operations rely on PTT communication, such as the oil and gas or mining industries.
“Many private networks typically use legacy wireless communication equipment that is several decades old in terms of its technology. Unfortunately, this equipment is simply unable to meet current and future demands for capacity as well as features,” explained Yishai Amsterdamer, General Manager of Telrad BWA Division.

The PTT solution’s capabilities have been successfully tested with common smartphones connected via Telrad’s BreezeCOMPACT base station and Mobile Tornado’s MDC2000 multi-session dispatch. A standard, cost-effective topology like this would fulfill all the needs of an organization in search of a full-featured internal communications platform as well as a user-friendly comprehensive management and monitoring solution for its field employees.
