Breaking News: US-based company acquired by Mobile Tornado to establish Mobile Tornado USA

Mobile Tornado acquires Priority Push-to-Talk to launch Mobile Tornado USA

Mobile Tornado USA

We sat down with Luke Wilkinson, CEO of Mobile Tornado, and Corey Caylor, President of the newly formed Mobile Tornado USA, to discuss the acquisition, its strategic significance and what it means for customers. We also consider the increase in acceptance of PoC technology in the US and the future outlook.

Q: Luke, what made now the right time for Mobile Tornado to expand in the US?

Luke Wilkinson:
This acquisition represents a major milestone for Mobile Tornado’s global expansion strategy. While we already had a foundation in the US, the acquisition of Priority PTT gives us a much stronger local presence and deeper relationships within the market. The timing couldn’t be better – we’re seeing unprecedented demand for reliable, instant communication solutions as 4G and 5G networks continue to expand and strengthen.

Industries like public safety, logistics, utilities, and transportation are all looking for scalable, secure platforms that can connect teams in real-time, no matter where they are. Push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) has gone from a niche solution to a mainstream tool for critical communications — especially in the US, where acceptance of PoC has grown rapidly over the past few years. With this acquisition, we’re ideally positioned to meet that demand.

Q: Corey, from your perspective, what does joining the Mobile Tornado family mean for Priority PTT and your customers?

Corey Caylor:
This partnership opens up huge opportunities for us. We’ve built Priority PTT around service excellence and customer trust, and joining Mobile Tornado strengthens that foundation even further. Our customers will now have access to Mobile Tornado’s world-class PoC platform – proven in more than 30 countries – along with a new range of compatible OEM radios.

It means we can deliver a complete, end-to-end solution hosted in a US geo-redundant data centre.  Together, we’re bringing the most advanced and resilient PoC technology to US dealers, enterprises, and public agencies.

Q: The US market has traditionally been dominated by legacy two-way radio systems. How do you see push-to-talk over cellular fitting into that backdrop?

Luke Wilkinson:
That’s a great point. Historically, the US has favoured traditional Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems. But we’re seeing a shift – the US market is embracing PoC as a cost-effective, scalable and flexible alternative that leverages the power of existing cellular infrastructure.

As network coverage and reliability have improved dramatically with 4G and 5G, the barriers that once held PoC back have fallen away. Businesses and public safety organisations are recognising that PoC can deliver the same instant, mission-critical performance as LMR – but with broader coverage, richer features, and lower cost.

This acquisition is a significant milestone to building a stronger presence in the US and it puts us right at the centre of this transformation.

Q: Corey, what are some of the immediate priorities for Mobile Tornado USA?

Corey Caylor:
Our focus now is on seamless integration into the Mobile Tornado group, accelerating growth and expanding our customer base and dealer network. We’ve got plans to invest in our sales and marketing activity, and we’ll be scaling up customer support to serve the growing demand we’re seeing for PoC across multiple sectors.

The range of OEM radios that we will be offering our customers are fully compatible with the Mobile Tornado platform and will enable us to provide customers with greater value and a totally integrated solution.

I am confident that Mobile Tornado USA is positioned to drive the adoption of push-to-talk across the US by addressing the critical requirements of public safety and enterprise customers.

Q: Luke, what does this acquisition mean for Mobile Tornado’s global strategy going forward?

Luke Wilkinson:
The United States is central to our long-term growth vision. Establishing Mobile Tornado USA gives us a strong operational base to drive partnerships across North America.

With Corey and his team’s local expertise combined with our global technology platform, we’re creating a truly world-leading end-to-end offering.

Q: Any final thoughts on what this means for the future of PoC?

Corey Caylor:
The US PoC market is rapidly expanding due to rising customer demand for integrated, scalable communication solutions. It’s safe to say that push-to-talk is entering a new era. With the convergence of broadband, cloud, and mobile technologies, PoC is becoming the go-to solution for modern mission-critical communications.

Luke Wilkinson:

Absolutely. The increased acceptance of PoC in the US is a sign of how much the market has matured. Critical sectors increasingly rely on PoC for instant coordination and rapid response.

Together with Mobile Tornado USA, we’re ready to deliver the reliability, speed, and flexibility that modern workforces demand.
